i believe that there needs to be some sort of ready reserve national guard to defend any islands that are potential war targets. A lot of a countries that invaded us back then had difficulty managing wrest control over all our islands and we should be just switching ourselves to guerilla warfare at that point. in combination with the recent trends in warfare like drones for recon and even attacking the enemy at the rear we can manage with that. But dont forget, another advantage is that we're basically surrounded by seas so investing in the navy should be the priority first and foremost.

This I can agree, the Philippine army has long since specialized in guerilla tactics, thus the need to be light is necessary

I agree on the improvement, yes. But I don't think our government will prioritize that.

The Philippines is trying to procure so many things at once, when they should've focused on defensively. I think the Army should have been the biggest priority, giving them more SAMs and Manpads to deny the skies, more TOW and anti ship missiles and the most important of all, drones. The Naval upgrades and Airforce maybe necessary, but it is costly, and having seen the war in Ukraine which is mostly characterized by drones and Artillery duels says a lot.

Russia's Airforce is struggling to maintain air superiority because of Manpads, SPAAGs, and SAMs and its Navy having a no show and losing many ships. I do like to see Landing Platform Docks to give the military mobility in defending the islands, since it can carry more weight than a plane and the geography of the Philippines is in its advantage.

I think, the Philippines should focus on Drones, loitering munitions, Manpads and SAMs, Artillery and TOWs or ATGMs. I feel like they are more cost effective than buying a jet or a warship.
Maganda sya in theory, kaya lang, matagal na kasing na-ingrain sa AFP yung pagiging conventional strike and defense forces. Saka I guess medyo late na rin kung magsi-shift pa sila to modern guerilla-style engagement protocols, kasi as I said, conventional war yung future conflict na nasa isip ng military natin. Yan yung isang reason kung bakit medyo hirap silang kumalaban ng insurrectionists eh.
