Tingin ko discipline and dedication lang naman ang need para to lose weight. We already know what to eat and what not to, and what physical regimen to lose weight. Pero discipline and dedication lang talaga ang pang laban to lose weight.
This from my personal experience. Declaimer: I am not a medical doctor or dietitian.
Eat less calories for men 1500 cal/day and women 1200 cal/day leads to weight loss
Go low carb. It's excellent for losing weight.
Look also into intermittent fasting.
Exercise. Just exercising will not make you lose much weight but it helps in combo with diet. Build some muscle that will help burn fat too.
Do not go too radical, like eating too few calories a day (lose weight gradually). Do not obsess over "keto" and other nonsense.
Go "Mediterranean" diet (but maybe avoid carbs if you go low carb). It's the best diet, mostly vegetables and fruits, with some meat. EAT HEALTHY.
Avoid soda (unless sugar free), try not to drink too much alcohol. Avoid it if possible.
Chill. Stress is often a gateway to obesity.
Be careful. If you start feeling like you are often tired or not feeling well, maybe you are doing something well with your diet.
If you’re really serious, start training for a marathon or some other high intensity event/sport where it’s hard to consume enough calories.
Obviously, if you can’t even run a 5k, it’s going to be a while to get to that point. But the nice thing about running is that you can see progression outside of losing pounds, be that running your first mile without stopping or finishing your first 5k.
By the time you get to 10k or half marathon, it’s going to be a holy shit moment.
If that doesn’t sound appealing, try:
high intensity workout classes like CrossFit (doesn’t have to be CrossFit). Definitely might be intimidating at first, but if you find the right gym, it can be an extremely supporting environment
Go to the gym with the goal of burning x amount of calories
Get a bike and start cycling for hours every day
Cut out on sugary drinks. Stop drinking sodas, packaged fruit juices and sugary coffee drinks (plain coffee with some light sugar/creamer is fine
I think the biggest issue most people find are:
Replacing unhealthy options with “healthier” options. Like don’t stop drinking soda and then switch to sugary fruit juices. Might be healthier, but you’re not going to lose weight that way.
Intaking more calories, using a workout as an excuse.
Not putting the time in. You need to be spending at least 1 hour per day to high intensity fitness.
Going too hard on the diet side. You don’t need to go full Paleo or Keto to lose weight (though for certain people it’s great to have strict guidelines). Most people fail at diets so often it’s better to either switch out healthier (but still delicious options), or just cutting back a little.
Not pushing yourself hard enough - fitness is as much of a mental game as it is a physical one. Obviously don’t injure yourself, but the human body can take a lot more wear and tear than what you mind tells you. This is especially true for running. Once you learn that you can safely push past your limits, it’s going to be a huge confidence boost.
