Ironic thing is Catholicism isn't even enshrined sa constitution natin, and yet our laws are so pang-kumbento

Yes, its true. It's just us and a holy roman city with no divorce law.

I have seen how western couples (mostly men) are getting fucked over by divorce (losing custody, losing half of assets, paying alimony)

I have seen stories about individuals (mostly men) losing their homes, losing custody of their children, going to jail for being unable to pay alimony or child support (despite losing their jobs).
There is a lack of leniency for the ones (mostly men) having to pay the price of choosing a shitty partner. The ones who are unfaithful and disloyal (usually women) are the ones enjoying the benefits of divorcing their partners
Then there are serial divorcees that treat marriage as the next paycheck which is disgusting.

The ones who lose in the divorce is usually the one that makes the most money

It genuinely scares me to get married since the divorce law here is getting attention now. Some politicians are pushing for this law to be passed

I mean I see the argument about protecting a person from domestic violence. It's a good reason I believe. There is a way out for them and an added punishment for the abuser (aside from the Violence Against Women and Children Act and other laws that I don't know about) but its difficult to decipher whether a partner has been abused or not (since there are people that fake that shit and the laws of this country are not enforced properly)

It makes vows in marriage "a bunch of words" said in a ceremony and it somewhat loses its meaning.

Seeing how it has affected people in the west (since trends in the west eventually catch up to us Pinoys) I am now leaning towards staying single until I die.
I find marriage to be a burden now. I would rather date a lot of people rather than getting the government involved in the relationship (marriage)

Since we follow western trends, we might actually see a decrease in birth rates in the next few decades or so since people are discouraged to get married now because the person who earns more loses in divorce (usually).

I guess I am too young to be thinking about decisions like this but the thought that my future partner (if ever I get one) can just divorce me for stupid reasons (False accusations of physical and emotional abuse, false accusations of marital rape, falling out of love, being unfaithful, me losing my job, polygamy etc)

It makes me physically vomit (yes this makes me vomit more than the disturbing movie iceberg I posted in the adult section). I might need to seek medical attention because I vomit a lot hahaha

But that's just me. What do you people think? I'm sure there are EXPATS here that have been divorced and you can share your thoughts on this.
I would love also that women share their thoughts on this since divorce affects two people (in a way) and its mostly women who are pushing for this.

I would like to remind everyone to respect everyone's opinions and we are free to say what we want but not force people to change their minds.

Yun lang. Thanks hehe
I did not know this lmao. Saying no to divorce is just saying that your ok with abusive relationships to happen.

Bawal ang divorce pero hindi naman enforced ang infidelity crimes. Bawal ang marijuana pero best friend ng mga pulitiko ang mga drug lord. Ganyan talaga ang mga batas dito. Pang showbiz lang. Walang paninindigan.

Interesting. I never heard that about the Vatican. I feel the same way about getting married. It's hard to want to commit to that when there is such a great risk attached to it.
