Can you please enlighten me why you BBM is your president?
I think its like the Park Chung Hee syndrome in South Korea. Park Chung Hee was a dictator that ushered some form of Golden Age in Korea, which led to the development of Seoul and areas along the Han River to flourish with businesses and establishments. But similarly, State Media controlled information, and it was hard to criticize the government let alone ask for transparency or some form of accountability from his administration. He was ousted by a coup, and sadly, in a bloody manner.
Now a few decades after that, or in the early 2010's to be exact, South Korea elected Park Chung Hee's daughter as the president. They cited, among others, their longing for what Park Chung Hee achieved, and they believe that his daughter could do it. Turns out though that the daughter got involved in too many corruption scandals which led to her impeachment and subsequent imprisonment.
I see no change in the narrative with BBM. BBM started with almost the same hype as PNoy when he was elected. But little by little, he is testing the patience of the Filipino people. In the next two to three years, I believe that people would lose confidence with the way he is carrying the country now. I am pretty sure that the Maharlika Fund will blow up as well and lead to their pitfall. People will lose trust on the Marcos Brand of politics. After all, while being a stoic dictator, Ferdinand Edralin Marcos had a brilliant mind for all its worth. He was a generational talent. But that is a bitter pill too hard to swallow for people who have been long ruled by political dynasties in their LGUs.
