PAGASA: 'Florita' not expected to make landfall
| ANC - 22 hours ago
Metro Manila, Western Visayas, MIMAROPA and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas will have Monsoon Rains.
The rest of Luzon and of Visayas will experience occasional rains. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the country and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. (Photo by PAGASA)
Heavy rains reduced visibility on EDSA to near-zero overnight as Typhoon Florita moved northwest toward extreme Northern Luzon.
Manila may continue to deal with the same kind of weather or worse, so flooding will be a possibility especially in flood-prone areas in Quezon City.
There's also a possibility soaking conditions may loosen the soil and compromise foundations as what areas like Kamuning saw on Sunday.
Bracing for the effects of 'Florita', barangay officials told ABS-CBN news teams making the rounds of flood-prone areas in Quezon City that they are prepared with life vests, rope and chainsaws.
At 10:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon 'Florita' was located based on all available data at 570 km East of Basco Batanes (20.8N, 128.1E) with maximum sustained winds of 185 kph and gustiness up to 220 kph. It is forecast to move northwest at 24 kph.
At 8:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon Florita was located based on all available data at 580 km East of Basco Batanes …
Brace for rainy week
Meantime, weather bureau PAGASA says the weather disturbance with international name 'Neoguri' is not expected to make landfall, but will bring more rains today.
But don't expect prevailing conditions in Metro Manila to improve until Saturday as it is seen to still enhance the southwest monsoon.
No public storm warning signal has been raised due to the weather disturbance.
"Inaasahan natin ang pag-ulan dito sa Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, diyan sa Kanlurang Visayas, particularly sa Kalayaan at Southern Negros. Kasama na ang Zambales, Cavite, Laguna at Batangas. The rest of Visayas, bahagya lang ang pag-ulan, at habagat ang dahilan ng pag-ulan ng mga yun," PAGASA weather forecaster Jori Loiz says.
Mindanao is seeeing better weather with just isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms under partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
'Florita' is forecast to exit the country on Tuesday on its way towards Japan.
Florita may not be the only typhoon this week
PAGASA also warns, 'Florita' may not be the only typhoon this week as the agency sees cloud clusters that may form later.
The weather bureau expects two to three tropical cyclones to enter the country this month.
