I've been a Canon user for years, so all I know is Canon. For a beginner I'd recommend an 80D with the kit lens.
I had a 450D before that, but I don't think you'd still be able to find one in good enough working condition to really get a lot of practice.
If you're not into DSLRs, then I would recommend checking out the PowerShot series, I started out with one of those before shifting to my old 450D (which is what I used back when I started using Manual over Auto).
