I love that none of the replies "explained" anything in detail
I also love that you shared none of your opinions or your insights in either of the candidates and probably did this to get a post up
So I will provide one for all of you guys.
When choosing for a candidate. I try to take a look at it from a foreign perspective. I try to look at the candidates as a foreigner with no knowledge so far about them.
So lets start first siguro with Leni since she is the one most of my acquaintances are voting for. I try to look at what she has done for the country at large and how she climbed the ladder. She has been known to aid the less fortunate of her country through the public attorney's office by representing them in legal cases. She also has programs that are aimed to provide livelihood programs to those living in the provinces. She has been reported to be trustworthy in terms of handling public funds as referenced by COA. She has also become a speaker in several international conferences that focuses on good governance.
With this in mind most would see her as a good candidate but as all candidates there are bad sides to her as well, after all she is still human. She has been rumored to have asked political opponents to step down from the presidential race. She has been rumored to not be clear with her statements which a lot of tiktokers and influencers have pointed out. She has also been rumored to still have ties to the "yellow party" despite her letting go of that and going independent. She has also been rumored to be a member of the communist insurgency that has maintained a presence in the Philippines since the Martial Law era.
Here are my predictions in case this candidate gets elected as president. I think that there would be a lot of foreign government and public investment coming in to the country since there would be someone that they could trust in terms of handling funds. I would also predict however that she would gain a lot of enemies with those that have benefitted with finding loopholes in the laws. I cannot predict on what she would focus on or start with as soon as she sits down. I cannot predict however if she would be able to continue her current projects or have enough volunteers to keep things running. I cannot predict if these volunteers would get certain government positions in order for them to continue doing her work while receiving financial payment.
Next we go to BBM, with him, I remove his last name in order to not set bias whatsoever since his father is rather controversial and it would be detrimental for him to be acquainted with him in this aspect. Now we try to look at what he has done for the country. He has co authored a bounty of senate bills which is still available on the government website. Sadly though, despite writing these senate bills, none of them became law. There have been reports of him helping the poor but its not clear how he does so. He has boasted to have helped his home province during his time as a governor along with the rumors circulating around that there are no poor people there. He has been rumored to have a hefty amount of gold that have been both denied and acknowledged by his family members.
As I have done for Leni, there will be bad aspects with every candidate. Sadly, no matter how we interpret his "special diploma" he has not been able to graduate from a certain high profile foreign university. He has also been involved in a controversy where a certain individual has leaked that certain members of the senate to have received a large sum of public funds to be used at their own discretion. He has also been rumored to not have been able to pay taxes on time to a point that it has reached a hefty sum which no ordinary citizen can afford. It also has been reported that this candidate is banned from travelling to certain countries. He has also been rumored to be withdrawing for certain illegal illicit substances. He is not favored by the communist insurgents and the radical muslims that continue to plague the country to this day.
Here are my predictions in case this candidate gets elected as president. There would be certain problems with the international community since he has been banned from entering several of them especially the superpowers. There would be a debate whether he would be able to make substantial dealings with them or not. I cannot predict if foreign government investment would enter the country since they might lose confidence in him regarding the control of public funds. Its a whole different ball game for private foreign investment however. I can predict a lot of "vice oriented" service would boom if he ever gets to sit in office. I could confidently predict a lot of casinos (legal or illegal) to erect. I can also predict the boom of a lot of land grabbing where a lot of agricultural land would be reclaimed to be repurposed into something extravagant. I can confidently say that he would be very unlikely to settle the situation diplomatically with the communist insurgents and the radical muslims. I can predict that he could either ignore them to an extent or use military force to drive them all out or fail miserably just like every other president since his father.
With all of this in mind, I think that what these two have in common is that most of their supporters believe that their candidate as an infallible being that cannot do anything wrong. That most of their supporters just gobble up anything positive about their supporter and spitting it out at the opposition, while denying most of the negative aspects about them. This has become almost been close to worship already. I think this is sad that most of their supporters do not apply critical thinking into choosing for who to vote for. Some of them do not even think about if their candidate is good for their country at large. It has been mostly a popularity contest (as most presidential elections have been)
Anyway, there is my explanation as to why I am still undecided. Do not get me started with the vice presidential candidates. It's the same popularity contest with the same blind close minded supporters that do not even weigh the pros and cons if their chosen vice president and just choose them due to their attached president.
I urge all of you here to take a look at the good, the bad, and the ugly of all of the candidates.
