Who controls the world? No one. Its simply just countries, individuals, businesses interacting with each other and trying to influence each other. Global dynamics and politics would be easier if you look at each government as individuals with self-interests but susceptible to influence.
For instance, in the ASEAN politics, we couldn't agree on anything and so there's no firm stand against China. Read the room as if the governments are individuals; they're like kids fighting for a big lunchbox not knowing that there's food inside. But since China is bigger, everyone sometimes allow him to be a bully. But, there's also China's cousin Shell who likes the food inside the lunch box and wants a share.
