Hello! Newbie here interested in starting a thread to get my account started and to see some of your opinions: I see a lot of you speak Tagalog and it made me think of a phenomenon getting a lot of attention: “passport bros.”
“Passport bros” are often western men that go to the Philippines, Thailand, Colombia, etc. because they really like the girls in those countries. Some of them want to find a wife. Some of them cause a lot of trouble. Some of them get killed or robbed. Lots of people seem troubled by a power/economic imbalance in this phenomenon.
I’m interested in everyone’s perspectives—especially if you’re a man or woman from these countries.
How do you understand where this global inequality comes from?
How do you feel about foreigners visiting your country primarily to find a partner?
Do “passport bros” mostly exist because of economic inequality between nations?
Can real love be found in such drastic economic imbalance? If not, what can be done about it?
In my life, I’ve come to love many people from foreign lands and want to treat them well. Let me know what you think, and happy end of the year/happy holidays to everyone.
