Man dies while allegedly attempting 'jumper' connection

A man died of a possible heart attack Tuesday morning, July 8, while he was up an electric post near his home in Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Manila. It was believed that he was attempting to hook up an illegal power connection or "jumper."
People were shocked when they saw Eduardo Manggol, 43, slumped over a power line. Nobody dared to go up and check on him because they thought he had gotten electrocuted.
After a little more than an hour, Meralco personnel arrived with an electric lift ladder. They brought down Manggol's body, noting that he didn't have burn marks.
Manggol's family then said he may have had a heart attack.
When asked to explain why Manggol had climbed up the electric post, his sister, Evelyn Anggor, revealed that somebody must have forced her brother and paid him P200 to connect a "jumper."
Manggol's wife, who is six months pregnant, refused to give any comment.
Authorities reminded the public that it is dangerous and illegal to climb electric posts. -Zyann Ambrosio, ABS-CBN News
