The term vitamin is a combination of the words vital and amine. Vita means life in latin. In the early days it was believed that vitamins contain amino acids. Vitamins are organic substances that the body needs on a daily basis. Some of them are synthesized by the body and some of them are obtained from the food we eat.

Vitamins play important role in metabolism, digestion and immunity. There are 13 essential vitamins. They are vitamin A, C,D,E,K and eight types of vitamin B. The main functions of vitamins are to main and repair the body, help in digestion, keeping the cells healthy and to support immune system.

Some vitamins like C are water soluble. They are excreted by the body. They need to be supplemented on a daily basis either through food or through supplements. Excess intake of water soluble vitamins is not harmful as they are excreted by body. Some vitams like D are fat soluble. They are stored in the body. They need not be supplemented on a daily basis. Excess intake of fat soluble vitamins is harmful to the body.

Benefits of cycling:

The benefits of riding a bicycle are enormous. It strengthens muscles. It works out the heart. Cycling regularly helps to loose fat. Sedentary life style leads to obesity. Obesity is the root cause of many deadly diseases like diabetes, heart attack etc. Exercises like cycling helps to stay fit.

Getting good cycle is a prerequisite to start cycling. Good cycle for you is the one that suits your height, posture and gives you comfort with stressing any part of the muscle too much. Cycling regularly is important. Making it as a habit, helps to reap its benefits.

Cycling helps to increase your body stamina. Exercises like cycling helps the body to produce feel good hormones which intern relax the body and mind there by reducing the side effects of stress. If you dont have time to do cycling exercise, cycling to work is also a good option.

Benefits of swimming:

Swimming is a very good cardio vascular exercise. It involves all parts of body and it is a low impact exercise. It helps to condition the whole body. Even overweight people can do it without worrying about injuries of bones. Swimming increases the bodys use of oxygen without overloading heart.

Swimming is a form of meditation as it a water sport and the water pampers the senses. Even spending some time in the pool helps to recharge. Swimming can be used to supplement some of the trainings of athletes.

Even though its an old form of exercise, it has its relevance in todays world. It is a tremendous work out that helps to condition the whole body and at the same time pleasures the senses.
