I think it is considered a sports already. The requirements would be very taxing for a normal person to just outright do gymnastics.

well definition of sports according to the dictionary is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

so i don't see why gymnastics can't be categorized as sports

Technically, "sports" na sya eh. Di lang commonly assosciated dito kasi konti lang may gymnastics program.
