Former Gabriela Womens Party-list representative Liza Maza decried what she called the "dehumanizing portrayal of women" during a fashion show by a major apparel brand during a fashion show this past weekend.
"At the Naked Truth Bench show - Bench should be held accountable for this degrading and dehumanizing portrayal of women and should apologize," Maza wrote on Facebook.
She was specifically referring to a segment of the show featuring actor Coco Martin, who walked down the runway while holding a female model on a leash.
The photo has also sparked outrage in other parts of the Internet. The blog Plump Pinay also slammed the segment, saying it is "crossing the line."
"Everything about this photo makes my blood boil. I get it, Bench wants to join the kinky bandwagon and have a little S&M stint. But this is crossing the line. This is so demeaning," wrote the blogs authors.
The Bench event drew a lot of buzz this past weekend because of major showbiz stars participating in the event.
