The death toll from Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) went up to 12 as of Monday night, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said early Tuesday.

In its 9 p.m. update posted on its website Tuesday, the NDRRMC also said the damage caused by Mario reached at least P389.177 million, including infrastructure and agriculture.

According to the NDRRMC, the latest fatality was Clyde Mavric Acosta, 5, of Napaset in Luna, La Union. He died of drowning, the update said.

The NDRRMC also said 14 people were injured while two are still missing.

On the other hand, the NDRRMC said that as of 9 p.m. Monday, Mario had affected 258,976 people or 1,160,050 people in 1,126 barangays in 27 provinces.

Of these, 14,899 families or 63,254 people are staying in 283 evacuation centers.

Damage caused by Mario was estimated at P389,177,703, including P314,852,680 in infrastructure and P74,325,023 in agriculture.

At least 67 roads and six bridges remained impassable in Ilocos, Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

Mario, which enhanced the southwest monsoon, dumped more than a half-months worth of rain on Metro Manila alone over 12 hours, PAGASA said Friday.

Many areas were placed under state of calamity, among them Ilocos Norte, Cainta in Rizal, Cebu City, and Marikina City.
