A problem with most of the paid VPNs is that their IPs are all blacklisted by Google and websites. So you're constantly having to do Captchas. I've had better luck running my own OpenVPN server on a cheap VPS. You can search online for some tutorials, but I wouldn't recommend it if you've never typed any command line stuff before.
