The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday logged 1,671 new COVID-19 infections increasing the nationwide tally to 3,658,892.
Of the 55,140 active infections recorded, 645 are asymptomatic; 49,988 are mild; 2,784 are moderate; 1,424 are severe; and 299 are critical.

The DOH said of the 1,671 reported cases on Friday, 1,200 or 72% occurred within the recent 14 days from February 12 to February 25, 2022.
The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) or 253 or 21%, followed by Region 4-A with 171 or 14% and Region 3 with 120 or 10%,

The Health department said recoveries climbed by 1,586 to 3,547,528 while 59 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 56,224.
The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate was at 5.6%, which is slightly higher than the World Health Organization's target of less than 5% positivity rate. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were at 28,039.
Based on the latest data, at least 28% of 3,800 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are in use.
Meanwhile, 17% of the 14,300 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 25% of the 4,000 ward beds in the NCR were in use.
The DOH said all laboratories were operational since February 23, while there were three laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
The Health department said 121 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 115 are recoveries.
Meanwhile, at least 41 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.—LDF, GMA News
