the way i first learned was memorizing the chord shapes (where your fingers go when you want to play a certain chord) and just play around with it. When i felt comfortable holding and strumming the guitar, i researched some songs with beginner chord progressions and how to transition from chords to chords, and picked up some techs like hammer-ons and stuff

I would suggest having a friend teach you like one simple song. That's how i learned; my very first song na i can play sa guitar was Crazy for you then Passenger's seat hahaha, then from there you can go to youtube na

Youtube videos help alot but having a tutor in person is better.

Hanap ka sa youtube chords ng mga fav mo na kanta tas tuloy mo lang di mo mamamalayan nag iimprove ka. Sali ka rin sa mga band or any music clubs sa school kung nag aaral ka pa.

Start ka sa basic songs na 3-4 chords lang tapos aralin mo complex na songs. Pero dapat trip mo yung aaralin mo para di ka maumay sa kakaaral kase masakit sa kamay tapos kailangan mo tiyagain

there are lot of youtube tutorials out there but I guess mahirap isipin kung saan talaga ung starting point noh? well, personally, what i can recommend is:
1. start learning if every string of your guitar is in tune, in that way mafeel mo na tama ung pinagaaralan mo, not just technically following guides.
2. start from chords that dont use bar or chords that makes u hold the whole fret bar like G, Em, C, D, A, etc.
3. when choosing what song to learn to play first, search for songs that only uses 2-3 max is 4 chord patterns. ex. Senti (A-D), chikinini/banal na aso santong kabayo(Em-C) etc. make sure its something na mabubuo mo, not just like u stopping midway kc mahirap na ung chorus, etc.
4. for strumming naman, you learn it eventually specially by feeling it, its like doing rythmic patterns, for me just strum downward once each chord lang para masanay ka sa time gaps ng paglilipat lipat ng chords, mahirap kc pag nag down up down up etc ka, kc mangyayari nyan naghahabol ka kc may strum ka na dedelay.
5. lastly, give ample time to learn to play guitar, music is an art, and you choose guitar as skill for that art, and skill is not an overnight thing, constantly it needs practice to hone that skills, also dont forget you have fun and make sure u enjoy doing/practice with it.

High school ako nung nag simula akong mag gitara. Youtube videos talaga nag hasa sakin. Mas maganda din kung may circle of friends ka na interesado sa mga musical instrument.
