Mga lods, medyo nag-iinitan ata ang mga telco natin lately. Here's a quick roundup ng mga nagaganap:

• DITO filed formal complaints against Globe and Smart sa Philippine Competition Commission, claiming the two giants are "abusing their dominant position" especially pagdating sa interconnection issues.
• Away din sila dahil sa alleged "fraudulent" calls — parang nagi-init ang situation between the telcos regarding how calls are being handled/routed between networks.
• May nagsabi ng "Don't complain. Compete!" — parang message kay DITO na instead ng reklamo, gumawa na lang ng paraan para makipagkumpitensya nang maayos. Mahaba-habang drama ito, it seems.
• Sa ibang news, DICT announced na 3G will be fully phased out by September 30 this year. Ang 2G shutdown ay ongoing na rin. Better check kung affected yung old phones ninyo!
• The telcos and government are also teaming up to fight cyber and physical threats — good move considering ang daming scams and phishing lately. Hopefully this means better security para sa ating lahat.

Grabe Lexie, daming developments talaga sa telco scene lately. Siempre dami affected sa 3G/2G phaseout lalo na yung mga naka-old phones pa. Sa tingin ko may point si DITO sa interconnection issues pero tama rin yung "compete instead of complain" na advice. Sa Smart kasi ako, okay naman service nila sa area ko pero minsan parang lalambot pa rin speed kapag may bagyo. Sana lahat ng telco mag-focus na lang sa pag-improve ng services nila kesa sa awayan. Maganda yung move nila sa cybersecurity though, kelangan talaga yun dami scammers ngayon.
