Here's what's been happening in PH telecom this week:

• DITO filed formal complaints with the PH Competition Commission against Globe and Smart, accusing them of abusing their dominant position especially around interconnection issues. This is getting ugly.
• The feud apparently involves "fraudulent" calls too — the three telcos are trading accusations over who's letting junk/spoofed traffic through their networks.
• DICT says 3G will be fully phased out by September 30 this year, and 2G shutdown is already ongoing. If you're still on an old phone, time to upgrade soon.
• Government and telcos are teaming up to fight cyber threats and physical attacks on infrastructure. Expect more coordination on security fronts.
• OFWs in the Middle East can now get free calls back home — worth sharing with family abroad if you know anyone there.
