SAN DIEGO, California – A Filipino man accused in three different murders entered a not guilty plea on Wednesday in a San Diego court.

Police alleged Carlo Mercado, 29, shot and killed Ilona Flint and Salvatore Belvedere at a mall parking lot on Christmas Eve.

Shortly after the two shooting deaths, Gianni Belvedere, the brother of Salvatore and fiance of Ilona, went missing, only for his dead body to be found in a car trunk a hundred miles away in mid-January.

Police said they have evidence that links Mercado to the murders.

Mercado, who works for Target, has faced a gun possession charge in the past.

Mercado’s family has also released a statement through their lawyers, saying that they are sorry for any pain the Flint and Belvedere families have suffered and are suffering.

The family also added that they have had limited contact with Mercado and have not been made aware of any evidence against him.

Mercado, who is being held without bail, is due back in court on July 10th.
