JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

In/Spectre

Its original manga series was just completed with the 232nd episode in March, 2022 after the serialization on Weekly Shonen Jump for five years. There are 2 current seasons and a special television program titled Dr. Stone: Ryusui in the anime series so far, followed by the Dr. Stone Season 3 in 2023. The third season titled Dr. Stone: New World is divided into two parts airing in the spring and in the autumn or later.

The third season depicts the story after the second arc Stone Wars and the new character Ryusui Nanami’s emergence. Though the manga series reached its grand finale, the anime series seems far from over.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!
A new story from the KonoSuba series is coming to the spring of 2023, titled KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! It has been already announced that the third season of KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! is being made. Aside from the anticipated next season, a spin-off series KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! will air eariler. It is adapted from the same-titled light novels written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima from 2014. Unlike the first and second season made by Studio Deen, a different studio Drive is in charge of the production of the spin-off and third season.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! tells the past story of a young girl who aspires to the most powerful spell Explosion. As you know, she is Megumin, the first main character to join Kazuma’s party in the main story of KonoSuba. Insomniacs After School
More people around the globe have been interested in Japanese school-themed anime lately, and lots of high-quality slice-of-life and romantic-comedy series await them in 2023. Insomniacs After School, based on Makoto Ojiro’s same-titled manga series published on Weekly Big Comic Spirits since 2019, is made into the first anime adaptation by Liden Films in 2023.

Set in a high school in Nanao, Ishikawa, Insomniacs After School tells the story of two insomnia boy and girl. The story begins when they meet each other during the preparation of the school festival. Sharing the same trouble, they restore the school’s abandoned astronomy club.

Jujutsu Kaisen
For many anime fans all across the world, the trendy dark-fantasy’s next season Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is a featured anime in 2023. The popular light novel series written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka started in 2014 and is to be completed in November, 2022, which was made into the first anime adaptation with 23 episodes in 2021.

The highest-quality isekai and fantasy anime made by Studio Bind follows a 34-year-old unemployed man who is reincarnated as a young boy named Rudeus Greyrat in an isekai world. The previous season focuses on the beginning of his grand growing-up story, and the new second season proceeds to follow his adventure to look for his disappearing father and mother after the cosmic catastrophe. There are more attractive new characters in addition to the existing major supporting characters he hasn’t met in ages in Mushoku Tensei Season 2.

My Happy Marriage
This year, several anime that garnered little attention before their release saw a rapid rise in popularity post-broadcast. My Happy Marriage emerged as a dark horse during the summer 2023 anime season. Despite airing alongside massively popular series sequels like Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and Mushoku Tensei Season 2, it managed to achieve comparable acclaim. The source material is a light novel by Akumi Agitogi, first published in 2019. The adaptation into anime was beautifully realized by Kinema Citrus. Hence, it’s safe to say that My Happy Marriage is one of the best anime of 2023, especially within the romance genre.

Miyo Saimori grew up in a neglectful household due to her lack of a special ability called Supernatural Ability. She is heartbroken when the man she has feelings for is forced to marry her sister. At 19, Miyo finds herself arranged to be married to Kiyoka Kudou, the 27-year-old head of the Kudou family. Rumors depict Kiyoka as a cold and ruthless soldier, leading many potential fiancées to flee from him. However, as Miyo spends more time with him, she realizes that Kiyoka is not the man the rumors make him out to be. The story depicts how Miyo’s once-unhappy life begins to bloom vibrantly through her marriage.

Classroom of the Elite
In March, 2022, the production of the following seasons of the popular anime series Classroom of the Elite was announced, based on its original light novel published since 2015. The first season of the anime adaptation was broadcast with 12 episodes in 2017; any additional information about the anime’s next season had not been released until very recently.

The second season scheduled to air in July 2022 and the third season in 2023 cover the whole part of the First Year Arc as well as the first season, which corresponds the first 14 volumes of the light novel series. The battles of Kiyotaka Ayanokoji with other classes are growing more intense and his background is being dug up more in the following seasons.

Rurouni Kenshi
The famous samurai-themed classic anime Rurouni Kenshin is reviving as a brand new anime series, which was first announced in December, 2021. At Aniplex Online Fest 2022 on September 24, 2022, it was revealed that it would be released in 2023 with an official trailer. The former anime series aired from 1996 to 1998, which comprises 94 episodes made by Studio Gallop and Studio Deen. The new version of the Rurouni Kenshin anime series is produced by Liden Films, which is scheduled to release other expected anime for 2023 such as Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown and Insomniacs After School.

Set in the beginning of the Meiji period (1868-1912), the historical action adventure is dominated by Kenshin Himura, a legendary swordsman who used to be known as the most powerful assassin in the late Edo period. He determines not to kill anymore and seeks a way to live peacefully traveling around the country. He starts having relations with a heroine Kaoru Kamiya, a spirited orphan Yahiko Myojin and a passionate fighter Sanosuke Sagara.

Undead Unlock (OCT 2023)
A new anime series adapted from popular manga serialized on the most famous Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump has been what many anime fans find a great deal of pleasure in every season recently. Undead Unluck is one of the promising anime series broadcasted in 2023, based on Yoshifumi Tozuka’s manga published since January, 2020. The first anime adaptation of Undead Unluck is handled by David Production, which is also known for other great works such as Fire Force and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.

Undead Unluck concentrates on the unique combination of an extremely unlucky girl Fuuko Izumo and an wild immortal man Andy. She is a Negator who has a supernatural ability called Unluck, which brings bad luck to anyone who she touches. Her parents and many people lost their lives due to her ability. On the other hand, Andy’s ability as a Negator is known as Undead, which realizes his deathlessness with his tremendous recovery capacity. The fantastic anime follows their exciting action adventure mixed with comedy.

The rising shield of hero
Following seasons of the popular isekai dark-fantasy anime The Rising of the Shield Hero were confirmed on Crunchyroll Expo 2019. The second season, made by DR Movie, aired with 13 episodes in the spring of 2022. And, the third season is made by Kinema Citrus which is the same anime studio as the first season in 2019. Its original light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Seira Minami has been published since 2013.

The Rising of the Shield Hero casts a spotlight on a Japanese university student Naofumi Iwatani, who is sent to a different world and given a shield to save the fantasy world. He is forced to start an adventure with lots of disadvantages. The first and season seasons represent how he conquers the difficulties with his party’s new members Raphtalia and Filo. The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 keeps following his further adventure and three other summoned heroes again.

Pluto
The animation that the whole world has been waiting for is about to be born. Pluto, Naoki Urasawa’s manga series based on The Greatest Robot on Earth, a part of Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy, is to be distributed exclusively on Netflix in 2023. The original manga series is written by Naoki Urasawa, who is also famous for Monster (1994-2001) and 20th Century Boys (1999–2006). It is made by M2 Studio, an anime studio founded by Masao Maruyama, who also created other famous studios Madhouse and Mappa.
