Mandatory service is an interesting concept. I wish they expanded it to non-violent professions. Many societies were built by common citizens giving their labor as a form of taxation. However, I sympathize with people calling it a form of slavery. Look at Israel—you serve or you go to prison. None of us choose where we are born.
