This course discusses principles of instructional design and assessment. It discusses concepts, principles, and applications of teaching, learning, and assessment design in a student-centered learning environment. Moreover, it focuses on principles and constitute a student-centered learning belief and practice and emphasizes concepts and principles on learning outcome formulation, thinking process, student engagement, constructive alignment, test construction mechanics, authentic assessments, and the role of feedback.The course is divided into 3 chapters: (A) Instructional Design; (B) Instructional Assessment; and (C) Instructional Materials Development. It is composed of 11 minilecture videos and focuses on the following topics:1. Instructional Designing2. Teaching Approaches and Methods3. Traditional Assessment4. Authentic Assessment5. Rubric Development and Feedback6. Online Learning Pedagogy7. Flipped Classroom8. Instructional Materials Development9. Spiral Progression10. Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed11. Why Students Don't Like Learning at SchoolAt the end of this course, students are expected that they can:1) Articulate principles of instructional design in teaching and learning2) Design instructional plan based on student-centered learning principles3) Develop assessment tasks following constructive alignment4) Reflect on principles and practices that constitute student-centered learningThe course is intended for beginning and intermediate education students and practitioners.
