Just read some concerning research about how vulnerable our power systems are to geomagnetic storms. The study looked at power outages in the US from 2006 to 2023 and found correlations between solar storm activity and unexplained power failures. With our increasing reliance on electricity and digital infrastructure, I'm wondering if anyone else thinks we're underestimating this threat? The paper categorized storms from weak to extreme intensity and still found impacts. What do you guys think - is this something we should be more worried about, or is it being overblown?
