Here's what's been going on in the FPS world lately:

• Some dev built a working FPS using Gaussian splats — pretty wild tech demo and you can play it right in your browser for free
• Last Flag, that multiplayer shooter from the Imagine Dragons guy, is going free every weekend until the first big update drops
• Half-Life writer commented on how few FPS games actually followed Valve's storytelling approach, saying even MoH and CoD were inconsistent with it
• Xbox Game Pass users are apparently calling some FPS on the service a "masterpiece" — curious which one they mean
• Someone made a mod that turns a classic PlayStation platformer into a first-person shooter, because of course the internet did that
• Kotaku and TechRadar both dropped their "best shooters" lists if you're looking for something new to play
• PC Gamer did a retrospective review of Far Cry 2 (2008) — still one of the most divisive FPS games out there
