Description
This Course is intended to be purchased by adults for their wards. This course covers everything about Metals and Non Metals from their physical and chemical properties to reactivity series, metallurgy, chemical bonding, corrosion and formation of alloys. Metals are malleable ,ductile ,conduct electricity . Non Metals are brittle, non malleable ,on ductile ,do not conduct electricity. Metals like sodium react violently with oxygen and water whereas metals like copper gold do not react with air, water or acids. Nonmetals do not react with water or acids. Metallurgy is process of extracting metals from their ores. It involve three basic steps that is concentration of ore, conversion of concentrated Ore to Metal and finally refining of the impure metal . In this course I have also covered chemical bonding which is of two types ionic and covalent bonding . Ionic bond formed due to transfer of electrons example sodium chloride. Covalent bonding is due to sharing of electrons between the atoms. Example oxygen gas, chlorine gas etc. Corrosion is damage to metals caused by the action of moist air on metals such as iron, copper etc. finally I have taken alloys which is a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals. Their properties are different from constituent metals. Some examples of alloys are duralumin, steel, bronze, solder etc. Hope this course reaches up to your expectation. If not please comment so that I can do better in my next course.
