I’ve been seeing a lot of cases lately where people are getting bullied online, and it seems like the punishment for these bullies is really light. Shouldn’t we be more strict with them? Maybe even have laws that really hold them accountable? What do you guys think? Are we too soft on cyberbullies, or is it just part of the online landscape we have to deal with?

I feel like the punishments right now barely match the damage these people cause — someone gets torn apart online for months and the bully gets like... a warning? At the same time though, I get nervous about making it a whole new crime, because "cyberbullying" can mean a genuinely evil harassment campaign or it can mean two 14-year-olds beefing in the comments, and lumping those together into one law feels messy. Honestly I think the platforms are half the problem too — they let this stuff go viral and then act surprised. Probably needs less "throw people in jail" and more "make it actually easy for victims to get stuff taken down and get real consequences for the serious cases." That's just where I land on it though, could see it differently.

You make a solid point about the need for balance. It’s tricky to find the right approach since the line between serious harassment and petty drama is so thin. Platforms definitely need to step up their game in handling these situations too. Better support for victims could go a long way!
