Free (as in freedom) and open-source operating system. Dahil nga open-source siya, as long as may programming skills ka, pwede mong baguhin ang kahit anong parte ng OS.

Unlike Windows, which comes as a fixed package, Linux is modular: you can change almost anything about how it looks and works. It installs software via a central "app store" rather than downloading files from websites, and it is generally more secure, though it may have a steeper learning curve.
