Ultrasound Physics, principles, artifacts, modes, doppler, instrumentation, etc...

What you'll learn
Identify common components and terminology of ultrasound equipment and instrumentation.
Understand fundamental principles of sound and the propagation of sound in soft tissue
Explain the differences between color doppler, pulse wave doppler, and power doppler Imaging.
Differentiate imaging artifacts by their cause and characteristic appearance.
Outline safety and bioeffects
Requirements
No requirements, although some ultrasound knowledge would be useful.
Description
This course acts as a review of Ultrasound physics and instrumentation and is geared towards those preparing the the RDMS SPI or APCA RMSK exam. It would likely be useful for sonographers in other jurisdictions as well. The course is 5.5 hours of video with "understanding checks" every 15-20 minutes. As well as over 100 true-and-false and multiple choice questions in the Quizzes which should act as a good practice run for your exam. In the videos I'll cover:- the elementary principles of ultrasound including definition of ultrasound, basic properties, and units of measure.- Fundamental principles of sound and the propagation of sound in soft tissue.- components and terminology of ultrasound equipment and instrumentation. The parts of a transducer and their function. - The steps necessary to go from pulses of emitted sound, to creating an image on the screen.- Hemodynamics and some basic fluid physics.- Color Doppler, pulse wave, continuous, and Power doppler Imaging. How they work, their strengths and weaknesses.- Differentiate imaging artifacts by their cause and characteristic appearance: anisotropy, shadowing, edge shadowing, Aliasing, etc...- Outline safety and bioeffects (thermal and mechanical)- and other ultrasound features or modes: elastography, compound imaging, THI, speckle reduction, panoramic, chroma, etc...This course does not meet the ARDMS educational requirements to write the SPI exam. This course is additional preparation.
Who this course is for
For those wanting to write the RDMS SPI exam or the APCA RMSK exam. Other professionals writing similar certification exams from other countries would also benefit.
Those wanting more in-depth understanding of ultrasound physics, imaging, and artifacts.
