How to use design thinking in addressing change
Description
This course describes how businesses can grow in an environment of change. It uses design thinking to encourage the critical thinking needed to develop the strategies needed to respond quickly to change. It uses ideas from design thinking to develop strategies needed to achieve a long term vision.The course is divided into four sections.The first sections is a detailed analysis of the industry and what your business does in the industry. The analysis focuses on the kinds of products and services that your business provides and an analysis of the kinds of change and how it can impact on the business. The section concludes with a focus on values and describes personal, business and environmental values.The next section is one of the most important where you define what is the long term vision for the business. It describes examples of visions of successful companies and ways they deliver values. The section concludes with the challenges that must be addressed to meet your vision and ways to continue developing your vision that addresses the challenges. It includes strategies that a business can use to be agile in responding to disruption.The third section is a more detailed analysis of your business. It then describes ways to identify the problems that need to be solved to address the issues. It defines these as issues to be addressed in the design, followed by problems and broad solution of what must be done to solve the problems. The focus here is on examining industry issues and defining WHAT must be done to address. Alternative ways are then examined to proposed alternate solutions based on industry best practices.The last section is HOW to implement the chosen solution and specify what needs to be done to create it. It also includes The four sections put together describe a process that is often used to develop a business case. You can also select those sections that are relevant to your current needs. For example,You might focus on Section 2 to see ways to define vision for your business, or your business unit,Or, if your business has a well defined vision, you can use section 3 to see how to develop systems using industry best practices to help achieve the vision.LearningThe course includes guidelines on ways to use the methods and tools.It includes 12 lectures. Each lecture starts with a video followed by learning objectives. There is a case study included on which you can practice or if you have a problem, you can use this to apply the tools and methods.There is a course provides guidelines on what to in each lecture, suggesting ways to document the outcomes following each lecture.
