Description
Pencak Silat is a traditional martial art native to Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. It is a versatile martial art that includes both close combat techniques and the use of weapons. Pencak Silat is characterised by fluid movements, fast attacks and acrobatic techniques. It is an art form that promotes both physical fitness and mental discipline. Pencak Silat is often considered a form of cultural heritage and is practiced in many communities as part of their tradition and identity. There are different styles and schools of Pencak Silat, each with their own techniques and philosophies. Many people practice Pencak Silat as a sport to improve their physical fitness, learn self-defence skills and promote mental balance. It is also a popular martial art for competitions at national and international level.Kustiwa Gunawan & Cecek Hermawan show you the fundamentals of the Ciung Wanara style(from Western Java).They will first teach you how to warm-up specifically according to their style, which is the basis of the practice.Then, you will learn the various techniques to be able to fall and to position your body, while standing, in balance on your head or on your knees.You will also study all the dodges and blocks against punches and kicks as well as empty-handed combinations and with Golocks.Finally, Cecek Hermawan will perform the Jurus of the Monkey with applications against empty handed strikes.All the techniques are demonstrated thanks to various view angles and to slow motion in order for you to understand and learn more easily all the subtle facets of Ciung Wanara Style.
