The wisdom tradition of yoga boldly proclaims that we can all achieve lasting joy, and that lasting joy is our birthright. Yet for many of us, joy seems to be an ephemeral experience. In this experiential workshop, we'll dive into the source wisdom of yoga and tantra to explore how we can awaken a deeper unfoldment of joy in our life through the power of yoga, self-reflection, and meditation.
This workshop has three points of focus. The first two sections are lecture format with Q&A, about 45 minutes each, and the third section is a guided hour-long practice. The guided practice will conclude with a 15-minute meditation for awakening the mind's innate joy.
FOCUS 1 OF THE WORKSHOP: FINDING OUR WAY IN
Redefining our understanding of joy through an exploration of the yogic concepts of shreya (that which is truly good for us) and preya (that which is merely pleasant).
Stithi (peaceful flow of awareness) and its role in discovering lasting fulfillment.
The role of breath and prana in finding our way in.
FOCUS 2 OF THE WORKSHOP: DISCOVERING OUR INNER JOY
The role of samprasada (a clear and joyful state of mind) in transforming our practice
Joy as our mind's essential self-nature (vishoka).
Discovering ananda (a profound experience of inner joy) at the core of our being.
FOCUS 3 OF THE WORKSHOP: THE PRACTICE
Practice a breath-aligned asana-a flow of awareness-followed by systematic relaxation and guided meditation to experience the mind's innate joy.
This workshop is designed for yoga and meditation practitioners of all proficiency levels.
