our students (most students) are actually topnotch, well, compared to the average person. rigorous studying, the breakneck pace in academics, and the time spent on studying. we are trained to hell and back.
the only problem is that the brain drain that happens is exacerbated by the brain drain itself, professionals leave for richer countries, and the ones stuck here are salty and bitter, most of them at least.

culture, policies, and our treatment to the younger generation are also factors on how we can harness the intelligence of our people, and that isn't really a priority when all people think about is how to feed themselves.

Why the need to put in Western standards? Western standards are not universal standards.
Good point, Western standards are not universal standards. What is suitable for the West may not be suitable for the local

Being a top English speaking country in the region isn't enough. Sure, maganda pakinggan pero we are in an education crisis. Public education is not at optimal as is. Most of our youth are struggling with basic arithmetic. It is not enough just to understand or even speak a foreign language. There needs to be a change and a development that comes from the nat'l level.

After the pandemic, I beg to differ. Bumaba talaga yung quality ng mga studyante natin dahil bumaba din yung education nung pandemya. Alam natin lahat, may policy na no child left behind that time kaya kahit kulelat, pinapasa out of consideration nga daw. Will see, in a few years magsisipag kolehiyo na din naman ang nga batang yan. Hopefully, ma bridge ng High School years nila yung mga lapses.
